Sherry Leschinsky was born in the Ozark Mountain region of Missouri where traditions of quilting never went out of style. Both her grandmother and mother were quilters and her mother even had a long arm, making her a rarity in the quilting world – a second generation long arm quilter. She does not remember ever sleeping under anything but a quilt except when away from home.
Sherry’s real passion is handwork, both appliqué and hand quilting. It was only the realization that she could never quilt by hand all the quilts that she wants to make that made her consider purchasing a long arm quilting machine after machine quilting a king size flannel quilt on her home sewing machine.
Sherry teaches quilting classes in the Columbia area but is being to wonder further from home to teach quilting. She owns two quilting related business, a long arm business and in partnership with Joyce Greer a quilting retreat business. When not quilting, Sherry teaches mathematics at the University of South Carolina.
